At a recent awards ceremony, car website Auto Express published their picks for the best new cars of 2020. It comes as no surprise to JJ Burke Renault that the new Clio, Captur and Zoe have won awards in their respective segments.
The Clio has taken the title of Supermini of the year. The judges favoured the fact that the Clio was a big “small car” and has ample leg room and a decently sized 391 litre boot. Another aspect of the Clio that the judges favoured was the superior technology and connectivity that comes with the car. It was the Iconic trim that they found most impressive with its “nav, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus parking sensors, safety gear and cruise control” which makes it a seriously equipped car for its price.
Joseph Burke, Dealer Principal, JJ Burke Renautl said; “We are delighted for the Clio, Captur and Zoe. These cars have been very successful within our Ballinrobe dealership, our customers drive away very happy feeling they have made a great decision. It is great to see this confirmed in receiving these awards.”
The Captur also won big in the Auto Express new car awards taking the award for small SUV of the year. The Captur again was praised for its boot capacity of between 422 and 536 litres. The Captur stood out in this segment according to Auto Express as it combines “flexibility with ride comfort and composure that its rivals can’t match at a price that’s hard to argue with”. As with the Clio, the Iconic trim was the one favoured by the judges. They thought the “high-res seven-inch touchscreen with sat-nav, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, parking sensors, autonomous emergency braking, lane-keep assist, and climate and cruise control” contributed to “a level of kit and tech that’ll make life with this small SUV superbly easy”.
Lastly the Auto Express awards bestowed upon Zoe the award for Affordable Electric car of the year 2020. The Zoe beat the Honda-e and the Kia E-Niro for this award. The major winning point of the Zoe here was its superior range of up to 395 Kilometers. They highlight how this range is larger than many competitor EV’s which cost much more, giving the example of you may not need to charge your car for up to two weeks at a time if you predominantly take shorter trips. The judges picked the GT Line trim for Zoe, pointing out that “All-round parking sensors, a reversing camera, lots of advanced safety kit, LED lights and climate and cruise control are all fitted as standard.” They state that it is the electrical hardware which is a main factor in it being a great affordable EV.
