The all-new Mégane family is expanding with the introduction of a four-door version – the all-new Mégane Grand Coupé, a striking sleek saloon design.

This model completes Renault’s offering in the C-segment and strengthens the brand’s position in Ireland, where compact saloons remain the preferred choice for comfort and space.

Manufactured at Renault’s Bursa plant in Turkey and set to go on sale in nearly 30 countries, the all-new Mégane Grand Coupé contributes to the brand’s global growth and the extension of its product range.

Based upon Renault’s CMF C/D architecture, the new Mégane Grand Coupé was conceived, designed and developed in tandem with the all-new Mégane launched in June 2016. This means it benefits from the same features, technology and engine variants as its five-door sibling, while adding record-breaking roominess for its class with generous space for its occupants and a boot volume of 550dm3 VDA.

Its generous dimensions (4.63m long and 1.81m wide, with a record wheelbase in its class of 2.71m) give all-new Mégane Grand Coupé an imposing presence and provide additional space and comfort for occupants. For the Grand Coupé version, all-new Mégane’s wheelbase has been extended by 42mm to give even more legroom in the back.

Courtesy of its dynamic styling and its range of features from the next segment up, the all-new Mégane Grand Coupé represents a genuine upmarket shift, which enables the brand’s latest model to position itself as the new benchmark in the compact saloon category.

Its coupé-like silhouette and proportions stand out from the competition as Renault’s designers seamlessly incorporated 550dm3 VDA of boot storage capacity without compromising the vehicle’s aesthetic appeal.

Fitted as standard either across the range or in the higher-end versions, chrome detailing (grille, side mouldings, door window strips, door handles and exhaust tailpipes) point to the model’s quality.

With wheel sizes up to 18 inches on the top-level Signature trim the all-new Mégane Grand Coupe has a 1.57m front and rear track – the widest in its class.

A unique feature in the compact saloon category, higher-end versions of the new Mégane Grand Coupé are available with a panoramic sliding glass roof that fills the cabin with natural light front and rear. From the outside, the panoramic roof forms a link between the windscreen and the rear window to add a further touch of elegance and refinement to the design of the new Mégane Grand Coupé.

The all-new Mégane Grand Coupé is available in a choice of nine exterior colours:

  • Eight metallic options: Pearl White, Platinum, Mink, Cosmos Blue, Titanium, Flame Red, Pearl Black, Dune Beige.
  • One non-metallic finish: Glacier White.

The all-new Mégane Grand Coupé shares many styling features with its five-door sibling, including its lighting signature which is visible night and day with the front C-shaped lighting signature features LED 3D-effect light guides. The Signature version of the all-new Mégane Grand Coupé is equipped with full LED (LED Pure Vision technology) headlights complete with automatic main/dipped beams. The permanently-lit rear LED lights form a unique horizontal 3D-effect signature featuring Edge Light technology.

The cabin in the all-new Mégane gives a ‘cockpit’-feel thanks to sculpted, enveloping seats and features such as a colour head-up display, a configurable colour 7- inch TFT data display, and R-LINK 2 - a 7-inch landscape or 8.7-inch portrait multimedia and navigation tablet

Travelling comfort is further enhanced by the careful attention that has been paid to the interior finish, to the quality of the soft-to-the-touch materials, which are within easy reach of the driver and passengers.

The centre console is wide, tall and surrounded by a smart trim.

The precision-designed seats promise and provide class-leading comfort and support thanks notably to the use of dual-density foam. The frames are the same as those employed for Espace and Talisman.

The cabin offers a generous level of space for the driver and passengers alike thanks to a longer wheel base.

One of the all- new Mégane Grand Coupé’s most impressive features is its boot, whose 550dm3 volume (20dm3 more than the Renault Fluence). In addition to its capacious load- space, it is exceptionally practical with easy access courtesy of a wide opening. The maximum load length is 1,084mm, with a maximum width of 1,393mm. Close attention has been paid to cabin storage space and user-friendliness with a generous seven-litre glove box; the central armrest can be adjusted in length to offer as much as three litres of storage and the front-door stowage space accommodates a 1.5-litre bottle.

The all-new Mégane Grand Coupé is based upon the Renault-Nissan Alliance’s CMF-C/D modular architecture which it shares with other high-end Renault models, including the Espace, Talisman and new KOLEOS as well as the all-new Mégane and new SCENIC ranges. The model comes with a wide range of features more commonly associated with the next segment up and unique in the segment: a colour head-up display, a configurable 7-inch TFT colour screen instrument display and the R-LINK 2 multimedia and navigation tablet available in two formats (7-inch landscape format, or 8.7-inch portrait format), as well as MULTI-SENSE technology which allows users to personalise their driving experience.

R-LINK 2 is a control centre that manages the vehicle’s various functions including multimedia, navigation, telephone, radio, MULTI-SENSE, driving aids (ADAS). For iPhone users, the Siri voice command system can be activated from the steering. A MULTI-SENSE button on the centre console provides direct access to these functions via the R-LINK 2 display, as well as to five different predefined driving settings which also adjust the engine sound: Neutral, Sport, Comfort, Perso and Eco.

The all-new Mégane Grand Coupé equipped with R-LINK 2 also benefits from 3D Sound by Arkamys® and eight speakers. Thanks to special digital signal processing software, this system adds depth and texture to listening pleasure.

All-new Mégane Grand Coupé benefits from the very latest driving aid (ADAS) technologies that also equip Renault’s high-end models (Espace, Talisman, new KOLEOS). These driving aids, of which some are available as options, are accessed and activated via the R-LINK 2 tablet and include the following functions:

  • To reassure: Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC); Active Emergency Braking System (AEBS).
  • To alert: Lane Departure Warning (LDW); Safe Distance Warning (DW); Overspeed Prevention with Traffic Sign Recognition (OSP with TSR); Blind Spot Warning (BSW); Tiredness Detection Warning (TDW).
  • To assist: rear view camera; automatic dipped and main beam headlights (AHL); front, rear and side parking sensors; and Easy Park Assist.

The all-new Mégane Grand Coupé is also equipped with the latest-generation electronic stability control (ESC), traction control, braking assist, electronic brake force distribution and hill start assist as standard equipment.

The new model benefits from Renault’s vast experience in the realm of passive safety with the following features as standard - two front airbags, two lateral thorax/shoulder airbags for the front occupants,

two curtain airbags, anti-whiplash front and rear head rests, anti-submarining system for both front and rear seats, rear Isofix anchorage for i-Size child seats, all the seat belts are equipped with pretensioners and load limiters.

The new Mégane Grand Coupé was subjected to a series of tests in extreme conditions, as well as to a painstaking development process to endow it with exemplary road holding and handling. Given that it will be marketed in nearly 30 markets, it was important that the new Mégane Grand Coupé met the expectations of drivers in all types of weather and on all types of roads.

To ensure its reliability, and in addition to the tests already carried out on the new Mégane hatchback version, the car was put through 276,000 kilometres on Renault’s test tracks in conditions designed to accelerate ageing. That is the equivalent of 828,000 kilometres of real-life use. Moreover, 24 vehicles covered more than one million kilometres in order to detect any potential issues and swiftly rectify them.

As an engine expert and a pioneer of turbocharging and downsizing in Formula 1, Renault is a leading advocate for smaller-capacity engines that seamlessly blend driving pleasure and efficiency.

A standard feature on all versions of the new Mégane Grand Coupé is the ECO mode, which modifies the vehicle’s performance characteristics and reduces fuel consumption by up to 10 percent. Available on versions equipped with R-LINK-2 (Dynamique Nav, S Nav and new Signature trims), the Driving Eco2 provides a range of data aimed at helping drivers to analyse the way they drive and take corrective measures to reduce their fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.

The Energy dCi 110 is available in a 6-speed manual transmission: 110 hp and 260 Nm of torque from 1,750rpm and a 6-speed EDC automatic transmission: 110 hp and 250 Nm of torque from 1,750rpm.

Fuel consumption and CO2 emissions remain very low (95g of CO2/km, 3.7 litres/100km), both with the six-speed manual gearbox and the six-speed EDC automatic transmission.

The Energy dCi 130, 6-speed manual transmission: 130 hp and 320 Nm of torque from 1,750rpm.

This engine is packed with advanced technologies. Courtesy of downsizing, this 16-valve diesel produces 130hp despite a cubic capacity of just 1,598cc. It is underpinned by a particularly efficient design, based upon an architecture derived from Renault’s expertise in F1. Fuel consumption figures for this diesel engine are just 4l/100km and CO2 emissions only 103g/km. The generous torque ensures brisk and effective pick-up for genuine driving enjoyment.

Renault has bestowed the all-new Mégane Grand Coupé with features that are more usually associated with models from the next segment up, boasting all the necessary credentials to attract business and fleet customers thanks to its attractive, differentiating positioning including -

  • Dynamic and sophisticated exterior styling for the driver and/or the company they represent.
  • Best-level low fuel consumption and CO2 emissions for the segment.
  • Unrivalled dynamic performance and range of features and technologies for its class (R-LINK 2, driving aids, MULTI-SENSE), to reassure and assist high-mileage drivers.
  • Exceptionally comfortable seats and roominess make it the perfect travel companion.
